Dear Friends and Colleagues

        Each year, the annual meeting of the APACRS rotates to a different location in a different country. In Asia, we are blessed with a plethora of fascinating locations to hold our annual meetings. These outstanding venues have become the foundation on which our carefully crafted scientific programs are presented to our delegates ensuring an outstanding educational and world life experience. In 2017, we are going to Hangzhou, China!
        2017 will be a landmark year for the APACRS: it will have been 30 years since Arthur Lim formed our organization in 1987! Under Graham Barrett’s stewardship from 2000 to 2015, we grew from strength to strength. In 2017, we return to the most populous country in the world: China. There is a Chinese saying: “上有天堂，下有苏杭”. Translated, it means, “Up above there’s heaven, down below there’s Suzhou and Hangzhou”—a testament to the unique beauty of 西湖, or Westlake, a legendary location that has inspired Chinese poets and artists for centuries.
        We are fortunate indeed that the 30th APACRS to be held in Hangzhou will be co-hosted by the Chinese Ophthalmological Society and the Chinese Cataract Society under the able leadership of Prof. Yao Ke from Zhejiang University.The combination of a dynamic scientific program in this outstanding location in conjunction with top Chinese cataract and refractive surgeons and our international faculty will ensure that the 30th APACRS will be a meeting to remember.
